No Sleep At All
The album title was quite obvious considering the previous success with No Sleep til Hammersmith. The vinyl version contained 10 songs but the CD version had two extra songs but they were not added at the end of the album, instead they had been squeezed in as song number 2 (Stay Clean) and song number 4 (Metropolis). Or, rather, they had not been cut out of the original set as on the vinyl version. The album did not sell very well. It was produced by Guy Bidmead who previously had worked with Vic Maile. In his autobiography Lemmy says they were not very pleased with the album productionwise but this was becuase "he was taking orders from us. He was too nice!"
The most interesting pressing is probably the one that was made for the Greek market. A special Greek 7 inch was pressed with live recordings of Metropolis and Orgasmatron from a show in Athens in April. This was shrinkwrapped with the Dutch pressing of No Sleep At All in 1000 copies and sold in Greece. In Australia (and maybe also in Canada) some copies also included a bonus album with songs by other GWR artists. In Japan the album was never released on vinyl but both Victor and Teichiku released it on CD. My impression is the most rare CD releases are the Italian release on the CGD label, which I never have seen (and does it really exist?), and the Australian CD version.
A single was meant to be released and it was actually pressed as well, see GWR 15 but Motorhead did not like the choice of Ace of Spades as the A-side and it was just sold at concerts and from the fan club.
