The 2002 release Hammered was produced by Thom Panunzio and Motorhead except the spoken word track Serial Killer which was produced by Lemmy, Chuck Reed and Thom Panunzio. It was recorded at Henson Studios and in Chuck´s house. The band entered the studio on the 10th of September, the day before the attacks at the World Trade Centre. In an interview afterwards by the end of 2002 Mikkey relvealed how he felt in the beginning of the recording: "This is going to be the worst shit album we've ever done". Joe Petagno did the front cover and booklet illustrations. Steffan Chirazi and Mark Abramson were involved in the design. Dizzy Reed did piano for the song "Mine All Mine" and the wrestler Triple X did some vocals on "Serial Killer". About the title Mikkey at the time said: "You can get hammered in two ways; by listening to this record or by going to a pub and getting pissed". They did a video for Brave New World.

In Europe it was released as a digipack with bonus tracks (Shoot You in the Back, RAMONES and The Game and a preview of the Boneshaker DVD), a standard jewel case and an LP. In the USA it had "The Game" and "Overnight Sensation" as bonus tracks.

A funny detail of the artwork is that the green skull artwork that can be seen on the back of the booklet was intended to be featured as the tray picture while the colour band photo was intended for the back of the booklet. Now when they became swapped resulted in Mikkey being hidden behind the centre knob of the tray. He complained about this in an interview that can be seen on youtube.
