The self titled debut was not just released in England in 1977 though. Copies
printed outside of England did not include the picture inner sleeve, but some had instead a picture inner
sheet. The sleeves also included the misspelling of “Keepers…”. In Germany it was released and distributed by
Metronome Musik (cat no 0067.055) with a picture inner sheet. The inner sheet has information about the t-shirt
sale.
The sleeve was laminated. After the initial copies
had been pressed
Metronome discovered the swastika on the cover so they had to stop the distribution but it was too late.
Copies had already been distributed and reached the record shops. The story is that no more than 150 copies
survived. However, this number has been questioned by some collectors. They say probably a lot more are out there and considering all the
copies that have been sold on Ebay they are probably right!
After those initial pressings the swastika was censored from the cover. The label was
the Chiswick map label. The later re-issue had
the stylus label. On the backsleeve, top right corner, the cat no was printed and some copies
with an additional number within brackets, "(0559)". Peter Wagner
says on his Facebook site that the version with additional number is the uncensored version.
