Promo copies had a gold promo stamp on the back sleeve saying "Compliments of EMI, Promotional Copy, Not for sale".

There are also radio promo copies. I have seen one with radio promo stamp on label. This was on blue vinyl and it had a Factory Sample sticker on the back of the sleeve.

In November 2013 a proof sleeve was listed and sold on Ebay for GBP 149. It was just the sleeve and it was described as "Before the lp bomber was released on bronze in 1979 the label took the artwork that was prepared and made a small run of promotional 'slicks' that were given to the promotional team to take out into the field and show record shops and dealers what was coming and then take the advance orders for what was going to be a big selling lp. Now most of these promotional covers were thrown away or discarded so they are very rare. Please note that this lp sized promo sleeve only has the front cover artwork as at this time the sleeve was not completed. Thus the back is plain white and the inside is plain card. Also note that the type for Motorhead and lp title - Bomber - is different from the final printed sleeve. this is yellow and the final artwork was red. This slick is 100 per cent authentic and obtained from the collection of a former marketing employee of at bronze".
